YETI Drone Supports Climate Research in Brasschaat Forest
The University of Antwerp is leveraging DroneMatrix’s YETI drone to support groundbreaking climate research in the De Inslag forest in Brasschaat. Flying autonomously on a daily basis, the drone is equipped with a unique combination of seven advanced sensors designed to gather detailed environmental data from the forest canopy.
This research initiative aims to improve understanding of tree health and how various species respond to climate change. By analyzing thermal data and subtle variations in leaf coloration, the drone helps identify trees that may be under stress due to water shortages or disease.

According to the research team, this integrated sensor setup is a first of its kind and represents a significant step forward in ecological monitoring. The data collected will also support forest management decisions, providing insights into which tree species are more resilient and which ones may need to be reconsidered in future replanting efforts.
DroneMatrix is proud to see YETI playing a critical role in advancing environmental science and sustainable forest management.
