The Antwerp Police Zone and the Antwerp Fire Department have been investigating the supporting role of drones during interventions. The tests take place within the framework of the European project Drones4Antwerp. The intention is to investigate how drones can be integrated into the operation of the police and emergency services. During the day as well as at night, different services handle scenarios on site with the help of the drone. The test must show whether drones can offer added value to the emergency services and in what form.

Automatic drones

The drones with which the test flights are carried out work partly with an automatic control system, but the police also monitor them from the command room. Skeyes, the director of the airways, granted permission for the flights. The project also evaluates the current legal framework with regard to the use of drones by emergency services.

Plenty of options

Drones could map accidents or fires from the air and identify suspects in Antwerp’s streets. The aim of the Drones4Antwerp project is to map the legal, technological and financial feasibility of the various applications.

The 3DSafeGuard drone will be deployed in the crucial life-saving first minutes of a disaster or accident. The device is already on-route to the incident, so that the rescue workers are aware of the situation and problems (in real time) before they arrive on site.

DroneMatrix has developed the YACOB-drone to assist emergency services on the go, without the need of a qualified pilot.

Mirador: Monitoring Industrial sites with Reliable, semi-Autonomous and Online Drones. This R&D project built a drone-based surveillance solution enabling new security service offerings for large industrial sites: on-board sensor and camera data is used for autonomous flights and surveillance actions, while secure communication allows confirming security hazards remotely.

Thanks to this project DroneMatrix is also able to provide services for large industrial sites with high security demands.

TYTHUS @ Spa-Francorchamps

Proof of Concept in which the TYTHUS drone was used to monitor the Formula 1 race during the Belgian Grand Prix by night. The DroneMatrix developed and built drone used by our partner SkyUNIT.

A drone for automated inventory management. This will likely result in faster and better inventory taking. This solution should be easy to set up, delivers a dependable end to end operation and is an innovative way to autonomously take inventory w/o human intervention.

Together with our partner CWT, we are deploying the Coastal Surveillance project for the police of Singapore.

YACOB installation has been deployed in Singapore and the first flights are executed.

BARIK @ Oman

DroneMatrix has partnered up with the BRAVE HAWKS, which is a subsidiary of the successful BARIK Group, in Oman to service the market in the Middle-East.

Both TYTHUS and YACOB installations have been deployed locally to demonstrate the possibilities.

Together with our partner the BRAVE HAWKS, we have executed different projects for local and international companies in the Middle-East.
